It was tailored to legalize homosexual marriage.

You know that's a hyper stretch from the far right. Something on the order of give those f***** privacy and they'll take marriage. Of course, it wasn't tailored that way. As the Times put it in its editorial today, the country has moved to accept the notion that homosexual sex acts are private and should be protected by constitutionally grounded notions of privacy.

I'm using a broader umbrella to interpret it, which is a minority rights umbrella.

The "politically craven" stuff is Scalia. Playing to the crowd. I'm going to post Dowd's column on Scalia. Exactly right on.
