Freedom works. The alternatives limp along, if honestly tried, and collapse if the participants don't have their hearts in it. >

What about India and China? India has freedom, capitalism, democracy, free exchange of ideas. China is doing much better economically.

Maybe the key is just (fair) trade and nothing else. Perhaps, countries like East Germany, Cuba (last 40 years) and Iraq (last 12 years) were not given much opportunities to trade with richer countries.
