They are not 'past "wrongs"' Hawk, they are wrongs being committed each and every day - right now at the very moment you are reading this line, Guantánamo is being occupied by a foreign military,

No.. it is being leased. If you suddenly claim that the Castro no longer has to abide by treaties made by previous Cuban governments, then what onus does any government/nation have in abiding by treaties made by predecessors.

And there are NO CUBANS living within Guantanamo boundaries, so no one is being repressed. In fact, there are Cubans who die in the attempt to get there, trying to flee Castro's regime....

When's the last time you saw a Cuban-American risk their life trying to escape the US for Cuba?

but i've also been saying since arriving on the net, and before that in real life for at least two decades, that we should invade Cuba, in a well-mannered and amiable sort of way, as individuals armed with a passport, toothbrush, and a few ideas, no more ...

Nice theory... Might have even worked until recently when Castro opted to reassert his repression of free speech by jailing journalists.. He's even got the Europeans ticked off about that..

So what you recommend is that we don't engage in sanctions, hostile language towards Castro, or make any other form of criticism.. Just go in and spend our money, subsidize his regime, and facilitate his maintaining power?

Interesting idea... Everyone can have freedom of expression about what's occuring in Cuba, so long as your Cuban. All the foriegners should just shut up and spend their money there..
