Sadly, the only thing that will change minds in the U.S., is a steady flow of body-bags coming home. As a nation, we have been scared into believing that only Force will solve problems in foreign affairs. So I don't see any possible future, other than continuing to use Force, until it stops working, and the cost gets too great. We are already stuck to 2 Tar Babies, Afghanistan and Iraq, and we may need to get stuck to several more, before the process reaches its inevitable conclusion. Sadly, my nation will have dug itself into a deep, deep hole by then, and its going to be hell, climbing out of it. |
