These are all great debating points. However, Israel is surrounded by lands many, many times its own and subjected to decades of tyranical leaders, leaders who treat their own people terribly. These leaders call for the extermination of Israel and have for decades. The debate is easy behind a computer in a relatively safe environment

I agree and have every hope that this latest "road map" will lead to peace, that peace will lead to trust and ability to understand each other. This thread seems populated with people who only see Israel as an aggressor, a point which is quite ironic given the geography and real history of the area. Israel would never have attacked its neighbors if it had been left in peace.

The tyrants of the area never wished to leave Israel in peace because it would affect the bases of their power and their need to focus their peoples on Israel rather than the lack of democracy and basic living standards in their own nations. The Arab nation that collectively has the wealthiest per capita people has not shared that wealth with its own people. Arafat is only a tiny example of billions diverted from a people that sorely needs it.
