Brooks has become a "Must Read" for me. Nice piece. Thanks for posting it. I'm a bit leary of Brooks, however. When I've read him on topics I know something about, he seems to go off on some lonely journey that no one else would take and misses the point. The one that struck me the most in that regard was his essay on Reinhold Niebuhr. But almost always a very interesting read.
