>>So, we invaded because of WMD programs, but no weapons?<<

We invaded in view of both 911 and Saddam’s recalcitrance in the face of several U.N. disarmament mandates. The reports of Iraqi WMD only underscored the urgency of the invasion. Bush had argued that the world community had a responsibility to force compliance even without WMD.

And he was right. The world community had lost its credibility because it was unwilling to enforce its own repeated mandates. Only with the leadership of the United States, headed by GWB, did the world enforce its law.

>>We were specifically told of 1400 suspected sights were WMD existed or were being developed. The entire invasion was a 'preemptive' strike against WMDs.<<

I do not claim WMD’s were not a factor at all. They certainly were a factor. I claim what Bush has claimed all along, leading up to our final assault on Iraq. You are over-simplifying this issue and failing to see the clear philosophical impetus of Bush’s actions.

From Bush:
We created a United Nations Security Council so that, unlike the League of Nations, our deliberations would be more than talk, our resolutions would be more than wishes. After generations of deceitful dictators and broken treaties and squandered lives, we've dedicated ourselves to standards of human dignity shared by all and to a system of security defended by all. Today, these standards and this security are challenged.

Bush then goes on in that speech to lay out his case for action against Iraq based on the obligation of the World regarding this issue. WMD’s showed how urgent it was for the world to fulfill its obligations; but even without WMD’s, the obligation existed due to Iraq’s ignoring the clear disarmament mandate of the world community.

>>We need to find them in order to both clear our credibility and prove that we did the right thing.<<

We need to prove that we did the right thing only to those who cannot think. The rest of us, however few in number, understand the matter quite clearly.

>>By the way, what 'facts' did you give?<<

It’s useless to enumerate them, apparently.
