Retired four-star general Wesley Clark

The unscrupulous political duopoly that controls this country wants nothing more than to perpetuate it's existence. Perhaps it is in rebellion to the perception of this control, that frequently we seem to have "the joker" or "maverick" appear. This is someone around whom many of those unhappy with politics as usual, tend to coalesce. In 2000, McCain, and to a lesser extent Nader, satisfied this role. If Wesley Clark decides to enter the race, he will certainly attract some of this vote. Currently much of this disaffected vote is migrating to Dean. One problem may be the recent Supreme Court decision. It’s almost a certainty now that Rove will play the Gay Marriage card as a “wedge issue”, particularly in the south. Moreover, this issue works well with Bush core constituencies. If nominated, Dean’s history on this issue is sure to be exploited.
