JFQ, Of course creatures don't change their DNA (are we sure?) to adapt to their environment. It's the ones who die, who don't adapt, that can make it appear that way. That's the whole point.

You are making too much of the punctuated equilibrium thing. It only questions the rate of change. No big deal. There was plenty of time.

You agree that there are minor mutations. Evolution is nothing more than the long term accumaltion of those changes. A human and a worm are not that much biologically different. We are both tubes that take in food at one end, and pass it out the other. We have many things in common, including heart, circulatory system, nervous system, immune system, etc. The main differences are in size and shape of those systems.

There are only three types of life on Earth, single cell, strings of cells, and tubes. We are tubes.
