I just think it's a mistake to let a candidate run unopposed. They're missing the chance to debate. Heck, have the College Republicans' debating champ run. Schumer might say something that sinks him, you never know.

NY Republicans are hopeless. I've mentioned it on this board before, but it ticked me off so much at the time I guess I can say it once more.

When Bloomberg ran for mayor he was primaried by an Hispanic guy. He would have been a terrific candidate. The mayor of NYC is a national figure, it would have been a shot in the arm for the party every time he appeared on tv. Just when the GOP is reaching out to Hispanics, they turned their back on this very viable candidate. He was a former Democrat, but he hadn't switched parties that recently. I don't recall his position, but he had been a city official for a number of years, so he knew how the machinery worked. Much more qualified than Bloomberg, but no deep pockets. Deep pockets wouldn't have mattered if the party apparatchicks had gotten behind him.
