seriously, what kind of market share is cdma taking from its competitors.

Here are some round numbers off the top of my head that should be in the ballpark.


CDMA Total Marketshare
2001 75m 400m 18.75%
2002 87m 405m 21.5%
2003e 105m 440m 23.9%


Future marketshare gains are going to be mostly driven by the adoption of W-CDMA across Western Europe and various parts of Asia. Qualcomm is projecting 10 million W-CDMA units in '04 with more substantial demand coming in '05. The gating factor in that forecast will be the availability of W-CDMA handsets with decent battery lifes in the sub $300 range.
