The tool is usually described as un punzón, or 'icepick', not un pico, or 'pick' .... and it hardly seems fair to drag boyscoutism into it - 'Johnson had a small pickaxe, of the type used by Boy Scouts, hidden in his trousers.'
Interesting .. it's good they put up some of the old news as originally worded when it broke, gives you more of an idea of what people at the time had to go on .... i knew an old fellow in el DF who knew Rivera and Kahlo and Trotsky et al, knew all the stories and loved to tell them, claimed to have run errands for the men ... the house is now a museum and gallery, with a nice restaurant beside it, quite travelled, just off Insurgentes
[edit] - seems odd, but a google with 'trotsky piqueta' also brings many hits, references to piqueta de alpinista, piqueta de escalar, which are 'mountaineering picks' .... but mostly you will see punzón de hielo .... funny, it shows how after all these years people have different ideas even on the instrument used ... you'd think we could find common ground on something, but noooo |
