The Buddhists (and Vedantists) and no doubt some others have the concept of a LIVING tradition, the tradition having been established by a great Teacher, and continued by a succession of Teachers, adding to, interpreting, extending, bringing up to date that same tradition.

Something of the same thing has happened in the Christian tradition via the Christian mystics, esoteric Christianity and so on, but this seems to be disconnected from mainstream Christianity. Maybe the concept of Jesus as the "one and only" Son of God has something to do with it. On that basis anybody who follows is presumably "minor league"!

I think there are many flavors of Islam, and I don't know
just what their attitude is in these matters.

In contrast to that, Adi Da's Teaching is the continuation of, and completion of what he calls the entire GREAT TRADITION OF MANKIND.

Namaste!

Jim
