Good point. Since Al Gore was in a position to know that terrorism was our greatest threat at the time(intelligence briefings) why did he & his best friend Bill not take pre-emptive action before over 3,000 Americans were incinerated? GWB was in office less than 9mos when 9/11 occurred--give me a break, he hardly had time to find the men's room at the White House. Clinton=8yrs; Bush=9mos, yet to your mind it was Bush's lapse. Possibly you are judging all events through a sharp left-facing prism?

Is this your view of the world if Afghanistan & Iraq had never happened?

First, all Mid-east countries would now be our friends since we were so understanding about that slight blow-up on Sept 11, 2001?
Second, Saddam Hussein would have seen the errors of his financial backing of terrorists & cruel dictatorship resulting in his voluntary retirement in order to write bestseller novels?
Third, al Qaeda terrorists would have turned in their bomb making equipment, U.S. pilots licenses & entered as a body into a Miami Monastery, having converted to Christianity?
Fourth, as a result of all of the above, the US stock market & economy in general would have sky rocketed and we would no longer disagree about GWB's accomplishments since you would have re-registered as a Republican super voter?
