Pharma cost in the US are:
30% Sales and Marketing
30% Profit (pretax)
15% Production cost
15% R&D
10% legal costs
These are my estimates based on large pharma income statements. The legal cost are unknown and they are hidden in SG&A but also in R&D (more thorough testing).
There are huge opportunities to reduce costs in developing countries and still make good profit margins.
