'It's for a "perfectly stupid idea" '

Precisely ... you have to wonder who invented the whole concept of 'religion' in the first place, eh ... and then to invent within it divisions that compete for the same dry desolate god-forsaken hillside, what were they thinking! ... best to track down this individual through the patent numbers and shoot him before he causes real trouble

As for your analogy, pretty much all informed and sentient beings understand perfectly that it is all México siempre from the río Sabine to the salt lake, thence to the canadian border at the río you call Columbia, so it just isn't an issue .... this is likely helped by the distaste the mexicano has gained through experience for all nation-states, no matter 'whose', all he basically wants to do is mind his own business, and wishes la migra would mind theirs ... and perhaps a sizable factor is, that while he dearly loves an amusingly mad priest, he is not so bloody stupid as to fall for any of this 'chosen people of jahweh/allah' line as fee simple title to land - that's a sucker's game, that, it is not helpful to confuse show business with real life ... so he reminisces back to the time the revolucionarios were shooting priests, serve em right he thinks ... anyway, he knows very well already deep in his soul just who it is that is chosen
