4:10AM Microsoft up 1.3% in euro trade, Merrill ups to buy (MSFT) by Emily Church
LONDON (CBS.MW) -- Microsoft (MSFT) shares edged higher in euro trading in Frankfurt, up 34 cents to $26.49 amid an upgrade to buy from Merrill Lynch. Late Tuesday, the broker said it was putting a $30 price target on the stock and raising its fiscal 2004 earnings per share estimate to $1.09 from $1.04, ahead of the software maker's guidance, "on the basis of expense management." Merrill analysts said: "Given the potential for EPS upside, a possible increase in the dividend, and the valuation disparity to its peer group we are raising our investment opinion on Microsoft."
