Michael, Americans can't be anti-American. Americans are by definition American. So what they say is American defines what American is. American is a generalisation, and the dominant characteristics form the national character and defines American.
Your particular ideology isn't the definition of American. American is an amalgam of nearly 300 million people and surprising though it might seem, they aren't all clones. There is a vast array of ideas, opinions, cultures.
