STATEMENT - The Privacy Commissioner of Canada, George Radwanski, today issued the following statement newswire.ca Perhaps some of those up north can comment on the background on this affair better than I can. But I post this because of allusions to US pressure on Canada to institute Patriot Act type measures, and because there are a few Canadians who do post on this group. I have not been in favor of these Patriot Act (and other acronyms concocted by Ashcroft, Poindexter, or who have you) because I think they will be ineffective and that they set dangerous precedents. But this Canadian resignation could well be another tempest in a teapot for all I really know.
