Obviously Bush's rhetoric doesn't have much deterrent effect on the ground. The mosque explosion in Fallujah (probably self-inflicted but easy to blame the US with enough "witnesses") reportedly caused some there to call for "holy war" against US forces.
This will get worse before it gets better, if it ever does.
Eight U.S. Soldiers Hurt in Grenade Attacks in Iraq, AFP Says
July 3 (Bloomberg) -- Six U.S. soldiers were wounded in an explosion today near the town of Ramadi, west of Baghdad, and a further two were hurt in an attack in the capital, Agence France- Presse reported.
The six were hurt when an ``explosive device'' targeted their two-vehicle convoy, U.S. Corporal Tod Pruden told AFP.
Two attackers on a motorbike had fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the convoy, AFP cited residents of the town, 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Baghdad, as saying.
In Baghdad itself, two U.S. soldiers were injured today when assailants threw a grenade at a U.S. armored vehicle and set it on fire with gasoline afterward, AFP said. A woman soldier suffered injuries to her hand and her male companion was hurt in the foot, according to AFP. |
