Another case of zeroes.

The "freaky" candle on the SIFY daily chart appears to be caused due to the opening price displaying as ZEROES.

ZEROES in the OPEN, HIGH, LOW or CLOSE seems to be the cause of "freaky" candles and "flat lining" on charts in all time frames.

SINCE OPEN, HIGH, LOW & CLOSE PRICES ARE BASIC AND CRITICAL DATA FOR DERIVING ACCURATE INDICATORS AND CHART PATTERNS THE NUMBER OF ERRORS WE ARE EXPERIENCING IN THIS AREA AS USERS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Having identified the problem for THE IQChart staff why is it so difficult to correct the problem once and for all?

The delays encountered in manually correcting these errors on an "as notified" basis is a waste of time for all concerned to say nothing of the possible lost opportunity for any user that has a monetary interest in a particular stock that is affected.

There is no reason why a permanent fix cannot be implemented to programmatically test each of these fields for zeroes and then take steps to derive the correct price data to be inserted in the error field.

ALL paying customers deserve nothing less.

EDIT: While I was writing the above, IQChart posted that this problem had been corrected. This gave me an opportunity to check the before and after effects of this bad candle.

It seems that moving averages, bollinger bands and indicators (at least the ones I use) did not change after the "fix" was made.

The problem of zeroes in price fields and bad candles and flat lining should still be addressed.
