Good points. First of all despite Dean surging now, remember he's got 80% of the lefty vote for himself. That is about one third of the Dem party. The two thirds more moderate types are split five ways. I predict Kerry will eventually get all of that moderate vote, plus many GOP moderates, plus most of the liberals and even some conservatives who like his military record. But we have to go through the process first. I also expect Kerry to select a centrist runing mate who will appeal to voters now leaning toward Bush. Or just someone who can deliver Florida.

On GW's military record, I wouldn't criticize him if he didn't try to exploit it and pretend he was some macho military jet pilot. He wasn't. As I illustrated, even in 1976 he didn't know how to fly a Cessna, the simplest of planes. Therefore he insults the real pilots who risk their lives, and men like Kerry who could have avoided war but went out and took three bullets and had to kill, lead, risk life and limb and endure combat.

As we have discussed, GW not only avoided combat but quit the Air Guard and went AWOL before he was qualified to serve in combat. And was never punished because of his daddy.
