There are at least 2 independent studies which claim otherwise. Elenor Robeson (The Guardian, June 17) and John Russell(UNESCO report), English archaeologists, say otherwise. Another study by an Austrian group claims that between 6,000 and 10,000 artifacts from the National Museum in Baghdad have been lost. The Economist reported that helicopters are used to plunder digs. The National Library burned down and 12,000,000 books and manuscripts were lost. The cities of Nimrod and Ninive were plundered. Joanne Farchakch, a Lebanese archaeologist, reported in The Independent, for all practical purposes, that the cities of Um Alkarab and Umma don't exist.
