Persons Not in the Labor Force (Household Survey Data)

In June, 1.5 million persons were marginally attached to the labor force, little changed from a year earlier. These individuals wanted and were avail-able to work and had looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed, however, because they did not actively search for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey. There were 478,000 discouraged workers in June, up from 342,000 in June 2002. Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally attached, were not currently looking for work specifically because they believed no jobs were available for them. (See table A-13.)

Not surprising the service sector gained but manufacturing jobs fell.( so we star to be more an d more in a "sell you this stock .. you buy me this mortgage ...... and cut my hair" type of economy.

Oh manufacturing jobs or producing something real useful things ...... Oh no! not for us .......to difficult and time consuming <GGG> ...... let China, India, Pakistan or Indonesia make it ..... ;) ng
