The New Republic once had an article where they said that one of Washington's little secrets is that almost all politicians mangle sentences and put their foot in their mouths, mostly because they speak so much and have heavy schedules. They get punchy by the third dinner they dropped in on, and the next thing you know they can't remember their own name, or manage ordinary English syntax. Some are worse than others, though. According to TNR, Teddy Kennedy is well- known for being almost unintelligible when he speaks at any length extemporaneously.......
