Russia attacked Poland at the same time Germany did and they both split Poland. It was that war makes strange bedfellows, not that we liked the USSR. It's true there was a communist movement worldwide and that the Soviets were able to recruit several English "moles" in high places. They even had Guy Burgess in CIA in America spying for them. But the popular movement died out after the war when Stalin's murdering became more widely known. But we were never friends with the USSR.
