most well known version is Arlo Guthrie's, his lyrics clear as a bell suh - nice voice like papa's

written in the early 70's, not by Guthrie I believe

during the great train years most major train routes had names like "City of New Orleans"

that one, still runs from shytown to n'awlins - I've taken it several times through the years.....this train's got the disappearing railroad blues
