UPS Tracking Featured In Intel/SAP's New Comprehensive E-Commerce Offering

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 5, 1997--UPS today announced it is providing on-line package tracking through the Pandesic (TM) electronic commerce solution, which was introduced today by Pandesic company, a jointly owned company of Intel Corp. and SAP America, Inc.

The Pandesic solution is an end-to-end electronic commerce system that allows merchants and their customers to complete a purchase via the Internet from initial order to payment and delivery.

UPS plans to provide additional shipping functionality, including rating and validation, address certification, label production and time-in-transit determination to automate the entire fulfillment
process.

``UPS has an aggressive electronic commerce strategy that includes alliances with companies like Intel and SAP who are constantly raising the bar by developing on-line products that give customers new ways to streamline business and provide better customer service,'' said Mark Rhoney, UPS vice president of strategic marketing. ``Being part of this new comprehensive electronic commerce solution that covers every aspect of a purchase is both a logical extension of our business and very exciting for the future of the Internet.'' The alliance with Intel and SAP is one of several UPS has entered into recently to provide ready access to UPS services through a variety of on-line options, including agreements with Infoseek, Lycos and Yahoo! to embed UPS within the search engine sites.

In addition, the UPS web site (www.ups.com) allows users to track packages, calculate shipping costs, request package pickups, locate the nearest package drop-off center, determine transit times, and download rate charts, tracking or calculation software and UPS Internet Tools to install UPS on-line functionality on Internet and intranet sites. The UPS web site receives about 2 million hits
daily.
