Which means less money to give to states.
That's perfectly fine with me. Why not have the national gov't raise money for national needs and the states support state needs? We used to do it that way. The only reason it changed is because you thieves found it was easier to steal from a more distant national gov't and harder to do so if the people affected had more influence on the outcome.
