Pleae name one thing I've said you think is a lie. Anything that can be proven one way or another. JFK assasination theories do not count. I will either prove it or will retract it if you can find proof.
Sometimes I put two and two together and come to a conclusion. Nothing wrong with that. Just as it's probable that OJ was guilty, it's probably Bush-Cheney were behind the California energy gougings, or at least their surrogates were, or at least they refused to crack dowjn on it because they liked the results. For example. But can I prove Bush-Cheney were behind it? No. If I could, so could others and they'd be impeached by now. But I do know their funds were intermingled and that they hid the energy papers from us. The motive was logical and so was the opportunity and timing. And why did the energy crisis end the day after Jeffords switched parties?
Sometimes people look at facts in different ways - like do WMD's exist in Iraq and have we found them? - for instance. Sean Hannity claims we've already found them, and so does Bush, but I am 95% sure they're both lying. They just both need to say that to avoid being exposed as long-time liars. However, you may believe them. because you want to. Fine, it's a free country.
As for Anne Coulter, not only am I appalled by the surplus of hatred and lack of realism in her conclusions, but I am frankly scared for our very democracy if people like her were to grab power. Just as you might fear a far-left communist (if there are any left in this country) I fear the Coulterite mentality because if it comes into vogue it will really-really hurt this country not just at home but all around the world. without the big Red Scare of the McCArthy era, the Coulterite mind has grasped onto half the country as the new "evil" in the world. And that my friends, stinks of Fascism and Nazism. The enemy is your nextdoor neighbor, your war hero uncle who voted Democrat, anyone who doesn't believe the Bushie spin machine like a good dittohead should. And it IS a spin machine. It doesn't care that about about veracity, it's all about tricking peoples' minds, lying, creating boogey-men, PR imagery, exggerating and gaining more and more power. You might like that but I stand up against it. Firmly.
Finally, the other thing I dislike about the way things are today is the amount of division in this country. The attacks from the right, starting against the Clintons in the 90's are a new kind of attack strategy, very personal and frankly silly. But those attacks have to be answered. Proof of their lies has to be gathered. The case has to be made. That is democracy. The big debate. Who decides who's right? The swing-voters at election time. And hopefully the debate will be won on fact not spin. When Ameircans start falling for the big spin, we are a lesser country for it, because we will make costly mistakes. |
