No fuel in the world is a "perfect" fuel. There are tradeoffs and problems with all of them. large scale Hydrogen use, for instance, would further damage the earth's ozone layer. Do you have any idea about using Hydrogen as a fuel for cars? BMW had a hydrogen powered car a few years ago. The car had a fuel tank of > 40 GALLONS and had a shorter range than if it used gasoline with a standard fuel tank (~200 miles)!

The cheapest way to produce hydrogen, is from Natural Gas!!! This means you merely shift your dependence from oil producers to natural gas producers...and sometimes, they are the same people.
