Henry, I'd figured it would be about 7% early on, with a maximum of 10% Message 18815704 while CDC and everyone were talking about 4% [or less]. The end result is in fact just under 10% of all cases dead [with not many still to recover or die].
If it had been taken seriously [which a 10% overall death rate justifies, especially when combined with the non-fatal damage] I doubt there would have been as much harm as occurred.
I'm quite used to experts and authorities blundering like this, so am somewhat cynical about their soothing sounds while they try to avoid "panic" in the population [or belatedly realize that it's a for-real disaster].
One would think the Centers for Disease Control, UN [and other experts] would do better than they did in informing the public on the real risks.
Given the medical mismanagement, if there's a resurgence, I wouldn't be surprised if people with possible, but unproven, sars avoid the medical guild and isolate themselves, to avoid being infected in central-planners' mass infection zones where infection control will probably be bad [as shown in Toronto]. Only if they are really seriously sick and it's definitely sars [or something really bad] will they risk being taken prisoner by the medical industry and government wackoes.
In the Amoy apartments, a lot of people apparently took off to avoid being infected [rather than risk staying stuck in an infection zone]. Individual survival is paramount to people. Self sacrifice for the greater good isn't normal.
Which of course will leave the bugs out in the community to maintain a permanent pool of infection.
