As a charter member, I was half watchin' the tube - 60 minutes (which Andy says is now down to 42 [minutes]). The middle piece (of their standard three piece suite [that's suite not suit]) was about the guy responsible for the NY Times crossword puzzle. It was a good story for anyone that's ever played any werdball. I liked the point where the guy admitted to being deliberately deceptive about the three letter "word" meaning "notable tower". Tower is a class A homograph, with the two meanings of one who tows or a tall slender building. Given the first meaning, the crossword answer is AAA.

For other class A homographs like

axes {plural of ax; plural of axis}
invalid {cripple; erroneous}
number {decimal ~; more numb}
singer {one who singes; one who sings}
sewer {storm ~; one who sews}

along with

tower {one who tows; leaning ~}

and my favorite

moped {brooded; fun vehicle}
