<<<As Nadine points out, Reuters and the BBC are doing all they can to put what is happening on the back of Israel, but I think the Pals are really under the gun to make peace. If the Pals blow this chance, it will be a cold day in hell before the Administation pushes for Israeli/Pal peace settlement again.>>>

I see Israel doing a great deal -pulling back from Bethlehem, tearing down some settlements, moving armour out the territory. What has Palestine done other than stop one woman bomber and have the Hamas say they will stop work for a bit of truce.?
Overall I think its crisis time for Arafat, who seems to be the only one still able to exercise any control over the Terrorist groups. His standing among the leaders in the Arab world is in decline and the next time, if there is one, that Israel tanks surround his compound they wont leave him sitting in a second story office surrounded by ruins- he will be part of them.
He seems to be one pig-headed SOB about exterminating Israel, but his choice now is between sharing the same fate as OBL and Saddam. or backing off a bit and settle for the distinction and honor of creating a Palestine State with recognized boundaries.
