Orca, Read my post again. I said that of those that died in the Iraqi war, most of them were bad. It is reasonable to assume, considering the sneak attacks by civilians against our troops now, that about half of those 7,000 were also bad.
We could have left Saddam alone, and let him keep on slaughtering any Iraqi that opposed him, but we could have done the same thing with Hitler. Would you have preferred that, Mien Herr?? We could have let the Japanese control the entire Pacific Ocean, and every soul on every island in it. Would that have pleased you Orca San??
The killing began, according to the Bible, when Cain slew Abel, but if one doesn't believe the Bible, take the evidence of the rampaging Scythians on the steppes of Russia, the Mongols from the Gobi to China, India, and Eastern Europe, the teutonic hordes from the north into middle Europe, the Saxons and Anglos into Britain, followed by the Vikings, and then the Normans. Then there was the insanity of the Crusades, and the criminal acts of the Catholic Spanish Inqisition. Do you, for one minute, think that thousands of years of killing can be stopped now?? Don't be a fool!! It's a fine wish, but there is no star that can grant that wish, and the fairy god-mother never existed. As long as there are those, on Earth, that are intent on ruling the world, others will rise up to fight them. Is to stop one from ruling the world with an iron hand good? I don't think so. I abhor killing as much as anyone, but how can any kind of freedom continue without killing those that would take it away??
Neither you, nor I, will ever be big enough, strong enough, or wise enough, to answer these questions with any certainty.
Think of the lyrics of the song "Where Have All The Flowers Gone". War, and killing, is a vicious, and never ending, cycle, as heinous as it may be. |
