9/11 caused "nesting" where folks spent on stuff to make them feel better (food, homes to nest in, etc.) plus they had huge batches of fear so they refinanced and paid down debt to make their personal balance sheets look better just like the big companies did.

I'm a pretty cheap guy with my own small business. I last upgraded my PC in 1999 before the Y2K event so I'd have the latest. My old PC was about 3 yrs old.

Now my PC is over 3.5 yrs old and I am looking to upgrade again. Mine still works but it has OS issues that the new XP with much faster video and memory would more than fix. A nice laptop that I can take on vacation would also allow me to travel more from home. For $1300 I can get 2 to 4x the performance of my current desktop and it is portable and saves power. I wonder how many others are feeling like I am.... starting to shop and will spend the bucks if the market continues higher or even stays flat?

BTW, AMAT up 10% vs 7.5% for LRCX today... When big money starts to flow, the bigger and better companies usually win and it seems to be starting.
