Tom Delay is a particularly corrupt GOP leader. First thing he did with the new congress was to axe a rule requiring congressmen to disclose gifts from lobbyists. It's the special interest pork barrel lobbyist bonanza under Delay. And at the top it's the Carlyle Group special insider weapons and oil deal bonanza. It started with the phony energy crisis bonanza. This is the kind of thing people mean when they call the GOP "crooked", although it's mainly the Texas types. That's where it's centered anyway. Plenty of honest Republicans out there for sure. Mainly moderate types.

This is also why it's laughable when the right-wing accuses the Clintons of making off with the White House silverware (which is a lie). The Enron-Carlyle type crowd has made off with tens of billions of consumer and taxpayer money, and get defended by their own party. Enron's #1 lobbyist and chief cover-up and disinformation man Ed Gillespie is the new head of the RNC. That speaks volumes.
