Kesler shot an unarmed man in the back .... whatever else there is to say about this incident, that remains true ... not the best of adverts for those who advocate the right to carry firearms in self-defense .... i know a guy who does, and had a heated discussion with him in re this case, remember it well, that would be mid-80s or so?

I'm generally agreed with your tone here though, fwiw ... you should have a right to protect yourself, protect your property even ..... there is quite a difference between the two in this country - crimes of violence get far more interest from the mounties than do property crimes ...... so if in the course of doing something about property crime, you do a crime of violence, you're the bad guy du jour

Trick is to not do the violence ... first weapons you use are videocameras and flash cameras, keep the baseball bats and shotguns for protecting yourself in the event the property perp elects to graduate to crime of violence ... but he has to be doing that, presenting a clear and present danger to your health, before you can blow him away ... and it really helps to have evidence when you do, so take lots of pictures
