Why defend someone who ilegally sold sophisticated arms to the Iranians when they were at the height of their enemy status with us? Bushies talk about Clinton supposedly being lax with China so they could acquire some satellite technology. That wasn't even a directly influenced deal.

Oliver North was acting at the orders of a Reaganite shadow government waging a war on its own in secret just because it wanted too. "The Crimes Of Patriots" it was called. And in retrospect the whole Contra War made no sense. The Sandinistas were no serious threat to anyone except maybe a few US multi-nationals who control the plantations down there. And the Contras were scurrilous characters. Many of them involved in coke smuggling and death squad type behavior. It's all so hypocritical.

The first time I met Kerry long ago I asked him about the Reagan Contra War "evidence" shown to the country involving the Sandinista supposedly smuggling cocaine (as if the Contras weren't). That photo blew a deep cover DEA operation aimed at the Medillin Cartel. Our undercover people died as a result. It's the same kind of thing that's happening now. So beware next time you hear from the Bushies about how great a threat to us some third world country is. They're probably lying, or at least wildly exaggerating and defending some special interest of theirs like oil.

Scary fact: the black operations budget under GW has ballooned. All those millions. Totally unaccountable. Who knows what they're being used for. One thing I know, companies like the Carlyle Group are getting their piece.
