Take a look at the "hedonics" practiced by the BLS, FRB and other worthy liars in the U.S. I don't know who you are talking about, Raymond. Try writing out the words. Besides, we were not talking specifically about the US, but about GDP and what it means for a country in general. Not everything has to do with the US, you know... Re the rest of your post, you believe what you want to believe. I have been doing quite well, thank you, and don't need anybody's recognition/approval. Most of the reporting on GDP these days is "smoke and mirrors". Oh so that's what someone with the "acumen and knowledge" of this business sounds like. For your info, most reporting on EVERYTHING is smoke and mirrors. You look at components, you weed out the "smoke and mirrors" as best you can, and you use the measure for your own comparisons. Dismissing economic measures such as GDP leaves you completely in the dark.
