Banca Eurosistemi Chooses CheckFree i-Series to Bring Electronic Billing And Payment to Italian Billers and Banks

ATLANTA and LONDON, July 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CheckFree i-Solutions, the leading provider of interactive e-billing and e-statement software and services and part of CheckFree Corporation (Nasdaq: CKFR - News), and its Italian-based business partner Walkiria SpA today announced that Banca Eurosistemi, a leading Italian bank payment processing center, has selected the CheckFree i-Series software platform upon which to base the rollout of a new nationwide electronic billing and payment service. The project is part of the Italian Banking Association's BankPass Bollette initiative. In addition to offering its own e-billing service, Banca Eurosistemi will also provide processing support to online banking portals and all major Italian banks. These new Banca Eurosistemi services, running under the Dinaxer electronic services brand, will allow Italian consumers to view and pay their bills online 'anywhere, anytime'.
For Banca Eurosistemi, e-billing is a logical extension of its current services offering, enabling it to leverage its e-banking and payment settlement expertise and reputation as a trusted payment service provider. A high degree of early interest is expected from large volume billers in the telecommunications, utilities and credit card sectors, for whom Dinaxer represents a fast-track route to offering Italian customers a convenient, value-added service, backed by an efficient payment mechanism. The Italian billing community will benefit from cost reduction opportunities across the billing and payment function, coupled with a new interactive communications channel with end-users.
When it came to selecting a partner to help develop the Dinaxer service, Banca Eurosistemi had several major criteria. Speed to market was imperative. Knowledge of the global e-billing marketplace was mandatory, preferably with first-hand experience in the bill aggregation and electronic payments field. A track record in the deployment of similar successful solutions in the European marketplace coupled with an ability to deliver cross-processing center interoperability were the other vital ingredients. Given the scope of the project, which involves a complex environment of billers, payment portals, front and back-end systems, a need was identified for both an open software platform and the experience to integrate all of this complexity into a working electronic bill presentment and payment model for the Italian market.
