I don't think they are racially insensitive at all as they are presented here. Of course they are made in a ridiculous way, but they are pretty much true. Some blacks have a lot more tolerance of UV rays than many whites. Of course many whites have a lot more tolerance of UV than some blacks.

The issue is melanin. It attenuates light. Some whites have more of it than other whites. Some even have more of it than some blacks. But generally blacks have more than whites and that is why they are more UV tolerant.

Don't think the comments are that big a deal, unless the context was inappropriate. We have to see them in context.
