Have you not concluded that we have begun to decline?
I know you're trying to pull Bill's leg but for 50 years I've been reading about the American "decline," in some form or another.
And yet, the US doesn't look, to my eyes, "declined" compared to the 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, even 90's. It doesn't appear that way, either comparatively or absolutely, despite the five decades of hand wringing by the divines, intellectuals, or back country weirdos, of both left and right.
Discarded the "family values,"
Has the rate of family desertion by parents increased from that of the 19th or early 20th century?
"G_d Fearing"
Has US belief in G_d declined significantly?
and "roughed individualisms" that made us great?
Has dissent diminished? Has business formation fallen off?
Can the damage done by the fraudulent 90's and Yuppy 80's be corrected so easily?
Can that of the conformist 50's, the drugged '60s, and the inflationary 70's be corrected so easily?
