Ray, The Counterpunch website is further testament to everything that is wrong with what passes for the left these days. Case in point: counterpunch.com Brown begins by recanting an unsubstantiated story that he heard, fulminates about DeLay's audacity as if the story were true (and, since this is supposed to be journalism, um.... substantiated), and then fulminates about what happened at the Baghdad Airport as if it were an official act. The left has become derivative and puerile if this is the best it can do. This sort of drivel isn't fit for a college newspaper. What would Dwight MacDonald or Clement Greenberg think if they knew that this would be the destiny of their intellectual legacy? It's little wonder that Christopher Hitchens has departed the left, though he has hardly become a neocon as the knuckledraggers at the Nation would maintain.
