>>wimax set to overshadow wi-fi<<

The real question is whether Wimax could overshadow CDMA2000. The answer would depend on, among other things, the cost of wimax compared to CDMA2000. Because some of the spectrum is unregulated (i.e., free), the total cost, including spectrum, might be less than CDMA2000, but might be greater if one factors in the extra costs to the subscriber.

Another question is more related to competition. Will Intel and Nokia promote the wimax standard as a way to circumvent using CDMA2000? It looks like that is their intent.
