<Are we going to start discussing the definition of uranium? >

It's probably a good idea. There is a lot of confusion between depleted uranium and fissionable uranium. They are quite different things.

The word uranium is scary because that's the stuff which blows up the whole world and Dr Strangelove loves it.

Depleted uranium is akin to lead in its lethality, and it's hard to get people excited about lead [though they should be as it was a major neurotoxin loose on the planet in the 20th century and is still prevalent today]. Depleted uranium just sits there and isn't going to blow up anything. [I'm not suggesting you have this misunderstanding, but a lot of people do - if they even know that uranium goes into nukes; heck, half of them think Saddam blew up the Twin Towers].
