The best speculation I've seen is that the plane continued at low altitude out to the Bay, while a second craft impacted the Pentagon and completely stole everyone's attention. The classic magician's distraction trick.

You've obviously never been to the DC area Raymond.

The "bay" is over 60 miles away towards Annapolis. And I can guarantee you that, since it would have had to fly literally over Andrews AFB enroute, over some of the most populated portions of the region, someone would have seen a low-flying airliner.

Why don't you just shut up about the subject until you collect enough pennies in your piggybank to afford a bus trip out here... Let me know you're coming and I might even be able to arrange a guided tour.

Might even be able to swing a guided tour of the Pentagon for you...
