The Army Times, in an editorial headlined "Nothing but lip service," complains

Army Times. Interesting.

Also interesting, are these numbers.

becoming the 211th and 212th combat deaths

And

some 77 deaths and two months after having declared victory

Subtracting 77 from 212, I get 135. Both from memory and published reports, the number at the time of the “Mission Accomplished” speech was 138. I remember some MIA’s at the time of the speech were reclassified as dead. This would increase the 138 number. I suppose some other “reclassifications” could lower that number. OTOH, some CBS reports of official numbers, indicate as high 144 may have been officially killed by the time of the carrier speech.

With a range of 135 to 144, and 212 as the current number, we have between 58 and 76 deaths before a doubling of the “victory” number. By the end of the summer?

Damn grisly business.
