Larry re "Did you get hurt by Bob's QQQ's calls ?
Please feel free to post details about it.
People need to know that Bob Brinker is not perfect. "

Given I've seen whole boards of Bob Brinker haters want to talk about nothing else and it's several years later now, I hardly think I need to expound on the matter. The truth is I screwed myself at the time by going far beyond the bounds of anything Bob recommended. I had been strongly hedged against a bear with a 2 beta short NDX fund hedging my remaining longs. When I noted the bulletin on returning from a vacation I was a bit like a dear in the headlights and without careful consideration I sold my hedge and then proceeded to make a fatal error of going long a 2 beta long NDX fund instead. Needless to say it was a disastrous move, the worst I've ever made. So yes, it was Bob's short term countertrend rally call that prompted me but it was my extreme aggressiveness and disregard for risk that demolished me. It was partially a function that being very aggressive with Bob's previous calls, and always succeeding, gave me a cockiness and foolish risk taking without ever having sat down and carefully looking at the big picture. The fact is Bob's long term model has been astoundingly accurate. It continued to be so in 2000 with his bear call and now again with his recent bull call which makes for a phenomenal record IMO. I have always been able to separate his long term model calls from his attempts to call short term countertrend rallies in the megabear which beside being extremely difficult was unwieldy due to the very large size of his following. If this post opens up a door for the bashers to flood in and nitpick his record then that's a game I'm not interested in.
