i'd love to pay lower taxes and get more for my money - which is what dean did. now, name off the pubs that done anything similar. you have named ZERO so far.
His experience in Vermont, Dean said, presents a road map for cutting taxes while not only preserving but increasing social programs. Dean entered office in 1991, at a time when Vermont had its largest deficit ever as well as the highest marginal income tax rate in the nation.
During the 1990s, Dean was able to cut taxes and build a budget surplus, he said, while at the same time constructing schools and a prison and setting aside $100 million for an emergency fund that has yet to be tapped.
this is what i like about dean...
I'm actually much more conservative than George Bush is in terms of budget. I do not believe in borrow-and-spend politics."
like i said, i'm not sure i ike his version of universal health care. also, i disagree with him wrt to the war, though he has valid points. i never supported the war b/c of the threat saddam posed to the us, though i did think it was there to a smaller degree than the hype, rather, i enjoy evil being popped and enjoy watching the enslaved gain their freedom.
i'm not a dean tout. however, i also don't appreciate your spin to make his accomplishments into something less when, admittedly, you "don't know."
i aslo agree with his assessment...
These are things that are going to put people out of work for the sake of making tax cuts," Dean said. "I just don't think that we can continue with what I call Republican borrow-and-spend budgets."
Dean says Bush is borrowing to finance the tax cuts, 40 percent of which will go to Americans earning $350,000 or more annually. "That's fiscal insanity," said Dean.
that is insane. soldiers in poverty but those making $350k and above get almost half the benefit.
dean says he cut the budget... is he a liar, mr inference w/o facts?
Vermont has universal coverage for children, where all residents under 18 who live with families are essentially guaranteed health care. Ninety-four percent of those eligible participate, he said. Dean contends he was able to implement the program while cutting the state9s budget and reducing taxes. The governor said he would not 3succumb2 to special interest advocacy groups who advocate a 3Cadillac plan2 for everyone. |
